Fourth Annual NASWA Veterans Confrence

There is still time to register for this year’s Fourth Annual National Association of State Workforce Agency’s VETERANS CONFERENCE: Serving Those Who Served, August 16 – 18, 2017 at the Omni Shoreham, Washington D.C.! Engage with over 300 state workforce agency Veterans staff, along with numerous partners, including representatives from the US Departments of Labor, Veterans Administration and Defense, Veterans Service Organizations, and employers committed to hiring Veterans. HRCI recertification credit is being sought for the full conference, which features an emphasis on disabled Veterans.

This year’s conference promises to be bigger and better than ever before, with a total of four keynote speakers, including disabled Veterans Dr. Richard Pimentel and Lt. Brad Snyder, two plenary panels, and 24 different breakout sessions.

The AGENDA promises to be packed with learning opportunities, with the following workshops included:

• Creating Veteran Employee Resource Groups
• Veterans and the ADA
• “Hiring Vets Has to be More than a Photo Op”
• “Helping Employers Understand Military Culture”
• “A Common Sense Approach to Post Traumatic Stress”

Employers will also be the focus of a plenary panel, “Connecting the Dots – Employers & Job Ready Veterans.” The panel will include representatives from LinkedIn, Facebook, Prudential, Aetna, Hilton Worldwide, Adaptive Construction Solutions, and Amazon. Six states will be also sharing promising practices.
